The Board of Directors (BoD) of the Archaeological Museum of Thrace (AMTH) holds primary responsibility for formulating the Museum’s strategic policy, in full alignment with the legal framework governing the protection of cultural heritage.
It exercises authority over administrative and operational matters, including the approval of contracts, funding allocations, and program initiatives. The Board also oversees personnel affairs, exercises disciplinary jurisdiction, and ensures adherence to institutional regulations. Furthermore, it supervises the expansion and curation of the Museum’s collections, the management of exhibitions, the establishment of satellite branches, and the operation of retail outlets.
In addition, the Board approves the annual budget, authorizes expenditures, and oversees the Museum’s financial administration. It is also entrusted with monitoring the performance of the General Director and the Museum’s departments to ensure effective governance and operational excellence.
