The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki is participating in the European project MNEME

June 23-24 2026. First post, first meeting, first steps for MNEME EU Project (MNEME EU Project), a new project that has come to explore how cultural heritage collections, data, tools and institutions can connect across Europe.

Through five pilots in Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Italy and France, MNEME will validate and demonstrate how Cloud-enabled services and technologies, including AI, knowledge graphs, 3D documentation, digital preservation and immersive experiences, can support cultural heritage professionals, researchers and public audiences.

During the two day Kick-off Meeting in Athens, with the participation, on behalf of AMTh, of Angeliki Koukouvou, Angeliki Moneda, and Evi Papadopoulou, the project was presented, and topics were discussed concerning the partners' consortium, the technical roadmap, the connection with ECHOES and the wider ECCCH ecosystem, and we began aligning as a team on the requirements of the pilot applications, co-design activities, semantic interoperability, communication, and next steps.

MNEME is part of the wider European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) initiative and will work closely with ECHOES EU (ECHOES EU), the project developing the Cloud's core infrastructure and services.

For the wider public, this means new ways to discover connections between objects, places and stories across museums and countries.
For museums and cultural heritage professionals, it means better tools for documenting, preserving and sharing heritage.
For researchers, it means easier access to connected cultural heritage data that can be explored across collections, institutions and borders.
