Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.
The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki participates in an important event, the exhibition “The Samaritans: A Biblical People” at the Museum of the Bible, Washington, DC.
The Samaritans: A Biblical People is a major exhibition that presents the Samaritan Israelites, their world and their place in Western Civilization and Jewish History. For the first time the most important artifacts preserved in museums and libraries the world over will be assembled to illuminate this amazing history. These include paintings, manuscripts, priceless books, photography, ritual objects and the most significant archaeological discoveries from Greece, Italy and Israel.
The uniquely important inscribed dedicatory stele inv.no.2286 of the Thessaloniki Museum, which was found near the church of the Holy Mother of Chalkeon, is a testament of the presence of a Samaritan community in Thessaloniki and shows the ties between the Thessaloniki Samaritans and Nablus, their home city.
