On Friday, 18 September 2026, the Kick-off Meeting of the VINE_ROUTE project – “The Cultural Path of Wine” took place at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.
The project is funded under the Interreg VI-A Greece–Bulgaria 2021–2027 Cooperation Programme (MIS 6010584) and co-funded by the European Union. The meeting was hosted in the Museum’s Educational Programmes and Creative Workshops Hall, marking the official launch of the project’s implementation.
The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki (AMTh) is the Lead Beneficiary of the project. The partnership also includes the Association for the Promotion of the Vineyards of Northern Greece, the Archaeological Museum of Sandanski, and the Reconstruction and Development Union. The project has a duration of two years, from 29 June 2026 to 28 June 2028.
The project aims to highlight the shared cultural heritage of vine cultivation and winemaking in the Greece–Bulgaria cross-border region through the development of a cultural route featuring interactive and multimedia applications for the public.
During the meeting, AMTh presented the project's objectives, scope, and implementation timeline. The project partners then introduced their organisations and outlined their respective roles within the partnership.
Participants discussed each partner's deliverables and the allocation of responsibilities. Administrative and financial management procedures were also reviewed, along with the coordination of communication and publicity activities. The meeting concluded with the identification of the next steps in the project's implementation.
The project partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to productive cooperation aimed at showcasing the rich viticultural and winemaking heritage of both countries
