“The three burials of the Ionic temple at Antigonidon Square. 25 centuries of a difficult survival journey of a major building, both outside and within the urban fabric of Thessaloniki.”

A tour and presentation for the public (adults and children) about the architectural members of the Archaic temple at Antigonidon Square and about the history of its construction, dismantling, reconstruction, abandonment, excavation, reburial, and preservation: a story involving Trojans, Greeks, Romans, an episcopal throne, building contractors, archaeologists, an old postcard, and today’s Civil Society.

This will be followed by a drawing/ artistic activity in which participants will visually capture their perception of the temple’s history (with the guidance of a visual artist).

The activity will continue with a walk to the site where the foundations of the temple remain reburied, during which reference will be made to the monuments along the route through the digital application “The Museum is Everywhere.” It will conclude with a discussion on the recent history of the monument with the President of the Association of Friends of the Monuments of Thessaloniki.
