“An introduction to the diverse architectural monuments of ancient Thessaloniki and the functions they served throughout their long history up to the present day.”
A special approach to the architectural monuments of Roman Thessaloniki and a tracing of their course through time, since many of them survived - after having fallen into disuse - only thanks to their later reuses within the urban fabric. The exhibition seeks to remind us that the past is a legacy from which archaeology can recover only a few fragments, scattered stones of collective memory. Most of the objects on display date from the 1st to the 7th century AD. The exhibition is accessible to visitors with mobility impairments and visual impairments.
The tour will be conducted by an archaeologist of the Museum.
