The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki took part in the 15th Advisory Forum of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes, held from 23 to 25 September 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia, on the theme “Routes through Time and Cultures: Education for Sustainable Heritage”.

The Forum is the most important annual meeting of the Cultural Routes programme. It brings together representatives of member states, certified and candidate routes, international organisations, and cultural and tourism bodies. This year’s proceedings focused on the role of education in the protection and sustainable promotion of cultural heritage.

The Museum took part as a member of the Iter Vitis Cultural Route. This route aims to highlight and promote historic vineyards and the culture associated with them. It also promotes research and documentation, environmental initiatives to protect biodiversity, and the development of sustainable forms of cultural tourism.

The AMTh was represented by Dr Evanthia Papadopoulou and Dr Angeliki Moneda. The two representatives took part in the round-table discussion on “The use of digital tools in cultural heritage education: Opportunities and challenges”.

The Museum’s participation in the Forum strengthens its international networking and opens the way for new collaborations with cultural heritage institutions abroad. At the same time, it showcases the AMTh’s work in the field of digital technologies and innovation.
