Health protection measures at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki

Τhe Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki implements all necessary precaution measures for the health and safety of its visitors and staff.

According to Government regulations, all visitors need to present for their entrance to the Museum one of the following documents and a photo ID (identification card or passport):

  • Vaccination certificate, or
  • Medical certificate of a COVID19 infection (valid up to 6 months), or
  • A negative antigen (rapid) certificate (taken no longer than 48 hours).

The above requirement applies also to minors aged over 12 years old.

Children from 4 to 11 years old must provide a parental/legal guardian declaration that the child has undertaken a self-test taken no longer than 24 hours. (Self-test declaration.pdf)

 INSIDE THE MUSEUM (indoor exhibitions and common areas) the following rules apply:

  • Maintenance of 2-metre distance between visitors,
  • One (1) person per 15 sq.m.
  • Group visits of up to twenty (20) people, unless they are families (spouses/cohabitants and children), in which case the number is increased accordingly.

AT THE OPEN (OUTDOOR) SPACES of the museum (e.g., open-air exhibitions) the following rules apply:

  • Maintenance of 1,5-meter distance between visitors,
  • One (1) person per 10 sq.m.
  • Group visits up to twenty (20) people, unless they are families (spouses/cohabitants and children), or up to forty (40) people, provided the tour guide has a vaccination certificate or a medical certificate of a COVID19 infection valid up to 6 months. In the second case, the persons/visitors accompanying the guide must present upon entering the Museum one of the following documents, along with a photo ID (identification card or passport):
    • Vaccination certificate, or
    • Medical certificate of a COVID19 infection (valid up to 6 months), or
    • Negative antigen certificate: either a PCR test for COVID-19 (taken no longer than 72 hours) or a rapid test (taken no longer than 48 hours).

The above requirement applies also to minors aged over 12 years old.

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES AT THE MUSEUM include, among others

  • Requirement of using a face mask at all Museum venues,
  • Body temperature checks upon entering the Museum,
  • Use of disinfectant, available at the entrance and in selected common areas,
  • Recommendation for the use of credit/debit cards at ticket desks and for all transactions.
  • Recommendation to avoid the use of elevators and common devices (tablets, headphones, etc.).
