The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, presents the new guest periodic exhibition of painting titled: SAMPIR by Elena Papadimitriou.
The exhibition includes works from the artist's new work on women from the Mediterranean and with clear references to the immigration issue.
Coming from 23 Mediterranean countries with different languages and dialects, the Papadimitriou women, as Ippeians, speak in a common port language, forgotten for centuries, the "sabir", and the word turns into a picture, a visual narrative.
The painter tells a prayer that grows in space as a visual installation. Mixed techniques create rough textures and relief surfaces that host words, faces, symbols, stimulating the feeling of the viewer who travels with them to the Mediterranean Sea.
