The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, taking part in the anniversary communication initiative “Green Cultural Routes” (May 22–25, 2025), coordinated by the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programs of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, is organizing a series of educational and recreational events.
With the central aim of promoting the sustainable enhancement of Greece’s natural and cultural heritage through public education and awareness, the following activities will take place during the celebration days:
- SCHOOL TOURS | Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23, 12:00
Student groups will be guided through the new temporary exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki “In the Cave. Stories from Darkness Brought to Light” focusing on the unique environment of caves. In collaboration with the Ephorate of Paleoanthropology and Speleology.

picnic in the museum’s outdoor space with recycling games and guided tours of the surrounding area, highlighting plants, contemporary artworks, and the antiquities on site. Through this event, visitors will experience a different kind of museum encounter, one that goes beyond the indoor exhibition halls and extends into the natural environment, public space, and the city itself.

- MUSIC PARADE & CONCERT | Saturday, May 24, 19:00
Forty young musicians from the
Thessaloniki Youth Band Philharmonic Orchestra will march from the White Tower to the Museum and give a concert in the courtyard, performing adaptations of classical and contemporary pieces from various musical genres; a unique musical experience open to the public.
